reading slump ended

hi friends! hope you have been having a great week. i think i have made blogging a habit. it’s been so nice to collect my thoughts.

last time i wrote, i was preparing to attend the indy 500 which was a blast! the race was so incredible and ended with a shock. i lost the mini bet with eric’s brother and friends, but it was still worth it.

i have also gotten a lot of hours in at walmart and am really enjoying interactions with patients. i am starting to get compliments and even a positive review mentioning my name (which made me cry).

in other news, muffin and i have been alone at the apartment for most of this week and eric is finally returning from indy tonight. muffin is definitely missing him and i can’t wait to see her reaction when he gets home. she has been chasing a bunny all over the place when we go outside. if it weren’t for me pulling the leash, she would catch it. she is super fast and sneaky when she is fixated on something!

i finally got myself out of my reading slump. it has been a few months since i have finished a book. i was going to dnf the book that i have been slugging my way through but i found its audiobook on libby. once i finished it, i needed more. since then, i have listened to four audiobooks (this week) and am halfway through a new book. i need more friends on goodreads, so if you have an account, let’s connect: https://www.goodreads.com/alexmcq8

in regards to last week’s goal, i have begun the data analysis for my survey. it is taking me far longer than expected so i have not yet reached my goal. however, i am proud of how much reading i have done this week, so i met a goal from the previous week.

i got faced with more rejection in regards to finding a mentor for my new research project. however, i reached out to one professor who said they would be happy to get back to me when their vacation is over. hopefully, i will have a good update about that next week.

i got to reconnect with my friend hannah this week. every time i talk to her, we always have a good time. i am planning a trip to go visit her this summer in chicago. i live so close and never really make it up there and definitely want to change that before we move.

since i am in the process of searching for potential post-graduate locations, i have been considering fun options. does anyone have any idea if west virginia is a fun/good place to live? i know that there are some infrastructure problems but it is such a beautiful state and i think it could be fun to move back to the mountains, especially with the potential opportunity that i identified. leave your thoughts in the comments! i need all the advice there is.

my goal for this coming week is to take advantage of this amazing weather and take muffin on two hikes at new spots near us. eric is finally done with teaching for this school year so he has plenty of time to come out with muffin and i. i think it could be so fun!

speaking of muffin, i will close this week’s blog with two adorable sleeping muffin pictures:

have a great week πŸ™‚
